At Loscoe Primary School and Nursery we believe that personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education is an important and necessary part of all pupils’ education. High quality, evidence-base and age appropriate teaching of PSHE and Relationship and Sex education (RSE) can help prepare our pupils for the responsibilities and experiences of adult life. Through RSE and PSHE we promote the schools spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental and physical development of our pupils.
Due to having mixed age group classes, we have produced a two year plan that ensures all children receive a balanced education on all areas of the PSHE and RSE curriculum. Although we have this plan in place, we feel that individual teachers are best placed to understand the needs of their class. To this end, class teachers are expected to tailor their teaching to reflect the needs of their pupils. It is expected that Loscoe (C of E) Primary School and Nursery’s PSHE and RSE education programme equips pupils with a sound understanding of risk and with the knowledge and skills necessary to make safe and informed decisions.
