We may be small but together we can make a big difference.

On behalf of the staff and governors, a very warm welcome to Loscoe Church of England Primary and Nursery School website.

We are proud of the family atmosphere which all staff promote in school. There is a strong ethos on every individual reaching their full potential and we take a full interest in our pupils' achievements both inside and outside of school.

"All groups of pupils make good progress and achieve well."

"The school is a happy and harmonious community. All staff work together to provide the very best for every pupil. As a result, pupils are ambitious, keen and confident learners." - Ofsted 2018

Loscoe is a Church of England Controlled School and we work closely with the Diocese of Derby. Three of the school's Governing Body are appointees of the Church of England. They are known as Foundation Governors because at the time the school was founded in 1895, the land for the original building was provided and administered through the Church Authorities. We maintain strong links with the church and its community, through shared activities, use of church buildings for services and celebrations, and by regular acts of worship being conducted by the vicar in school.

"Parents describe the happiness of their children at school and the family atmosphere where care and respect for each other is given great importance.” SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) report

We have seven classes within our school and Nursery: Squirrels (Nursery), Alps (Reception), Andes (Year 1), Pyrenees (Year 2), Himalayas (Years 3/4), Rockies (Years 4/5) and Cairngorms (Years 5/6).

Our impressive school building, built in 2003, is situated in extensive grounds which contain a large playing field, wild flower meadow, pond area and two playgrounds. We enjoy learning inside and outside at our school including our Forest Schools programme.

We know that choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions a parent / carer makes.  We believe that the best learning comes when we work in partnership with parents and the community. We are very keen to forge strong links with families and welcome your involvement in your child's learning.

"Thank you for supporting my child in a comfortable environment, enabling him to continue to grow in confidence and ability"

Unity – a poem

I dreamed I stood in a studio

And watched two sculptors there,

The clay they used was a young child’s mind

And they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher:

the tools she used were books and music and art;

One was a parent

With a guiding hand and gentle loving heart.

And when at last their work was done,

They were proud of what they had wrought.

For the things they had worked into the child

Could never be sold or bought!

And each agreed she would have failed

if she had worked alone.

For behind the parent stood the school,

and behind

the teacher stood the home!
