Loscoe C of E Primary School and Nursery

We may be small, but together we can make a big difference.

Welcome to our RE page.

RE enables our children to participate in an on-going search for wisdom. RE makes a distinctive contribution to the school curriculum by developing pupils' knowledge and understanding of religion, religious beliefs, practices, language and traditions and their influence on individuals, communities, societies and cultures.

At Loscoe C of E Primary School and Nursery, we learn about and from RE in diverse ways.  Take a look at our photo gallery to see us in action both inside and outside the classroom.

We believe that children should develop a keen awareness, and understanding of the diverse cultures and the beliefs of their local community and the wider world. This ensures our children leave us with a well rounded view and tolerance of world faiths, non faiths and customs of many cultures.

Our curriculum is based upon the Derbyshire Agreed Syllabus and supported with materials from Understanding Christianity. Across the classes,  our long term plan ensures that our children are learning about core Christian concepts alongside other world faiths.

Breadth of Study

At Loscoe Church of England Primary and Nursery, we study the following faiths in depth:

EYFS and Year 1 Christianity  Hinduism
Year 2 and Year 3 and year 4 Christianity  Hinduism  Judaism
Year 5 and Year 6  Christianity  Hinduism  Judaism  Islam

Please contact Mrs Eason at if you have questions or would like to talk about any aspects of RE at Loscoe C of E Primary School and Nursery.
